Senior Construction Engineer (posted 3/1/2022)

Job Description:

The Senior Construction Engineer will serve as a key member of the firm’s growing construction services discipline by working on construction management & inspection projects throughout Chicago area. The successful candidate will perform inspection services on road, bridge, and transit projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Tollway, Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), and other clients. Specific tasks associated with this position include:

  • Work as primary point of contact between the Client, Contractor, and interested third-parties
  • Work closely with project engineer or supervisor to prepare reports detailing project costs, progress, risks and opportunities for review by senior management
  • Inspect and document construction activities to ensure compliance with the contract plans and specifications
  • Lead a group of engineers and/or technicians by scheduling assignments and coordinating responsibilities
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work and payment
  • Electronically document pay quantities, material requirements, and contractor staff in a daily work report
  • Trouble-shoot engineering related issues in a field setting
  • Perform constructability reviews of design drawings

Position Requirements:

  • Possess 5 to 12 years experience in engineering and/or construction management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License a plus
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines
  • Attention to detail, effective decision making, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts
  • Possess Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with MicroStation, eBuilder database, and/or Primavera scheduling software is a plus
  • IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, and/or CTA project experience is a plus
  • COVID-19 considerations: All employees are required in the state of IL to have a vaccination card

Construction Project Coordinator (posted 4/1/2022)

Job Description:
The Construction Project Coordinator will assist the Chicago Department of Transportation in program level scheduling, project close-out, and fund tracking for their large and evolving capital program. The role may include cost management budget management, and/or primevera scheduling. Serve as a key member of the firm’s growing project controls discipline by working being a part of one of several large transportation programs in the Chicago area. Specific tasks associated with this position include:

  • Work directly with client project managers and senior management
  • Assist CDOT management with tracking and closing out of Federal Aid funded projects
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with IDOT to address jurisdictional issues
  • After working with CDOT project managers, take responsibility of proactivity identifying issues holding up project close-outs
  • Work in Chicago DOT office

Professional Requirements:

  • Possess 1 to 5 years experience in engineering and/or construction management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License or Construction Manager In-Training Certificate a plus
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines
  • Attention to detail, effective decision making, and very strong organizational skills
  • Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts
  • Possess strong skills in Microsoft Word, and/or Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience with MicroStation, eBuilder database, and/or Primavera scheduling software is a plus
  • IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, and/or CTA project experience is a plus
